All-American guard Alicia Thompson, who was this season's Big 12
Player of the Year out of Texas Tech, heads a list of six
players that have signed to play in the WNBA for 1998.

Also signing with the league were Utah's backcourt combination
of Julie Krommenhoek and Alli Bills, DePaul forward Mfon Udoka,
Iowa guard Nadine Domond and Maryland guard Sonia Chase.

A member of the Big 12 First Team and the conference's leading
scorer the past two seasons, Thompson averaged 23.2 points and
8.9 rebounds per game in 1997-98. She scored a career-best 47
points on January 7th, 1997, tying Houston Comets guard Sheryl
Swoopes for the third-highest total in school history.

Thompson is second in Texas Tech history with 2,156 points and
953 rebounds.

Krommenhoek is the WAC Conference's all-time leading scorer with
2,087 points. Both Krommenhoek and Bills were members of the
1997-98 All-WAC First Team.

Udoka, named to this season's All-Conference USA First Team, was
the nation's second-leading rebounder in 1996-97 with 12.1 per
game. Domond holds the Iowa record for career three-pointers
and Chase was Maryland's second-leading scorer this season.

The recent signees are expected to participate in a pre-draft
camp in Chicago from April 16th-18th before the WNBA Draft on
April 29th.
