__This is the text of a statement today by the Spokesman for
Secretary-General Kofi Annan:

The Secretary-General expresses satisfaction at the agreement signed
by the Presidents of Argentina and Chile concerning the longstanding
border dispute between the two countries. The ratification of this
agreement by the congresses of both countries will mark the end of the
dispute, thus paving the way for further integration and cooperation
in the region.
