Man charged in girl's shooting

LOS ANGELES, April 3 (UPI) - Los Angeles County prosecutors have
filed criminal charges (Friday) against an alleged gang member in a
shooting that critically wounded an innocent 9-year-old girl who was
trying to escape the gunfire. Nineteen-year-old Juan Carlos Granados is
charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and
possession of a destructive device.

Man charged in girl's shooting

LOS ANGELES, April 3 (UPI) - An alleged gang member has been charged
with attempted murder for a shooting that critically wounded a 9-year-
old girl who was hit by a stray bullet as she tried to escape the
gunfire.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office also charged 19-
year-old Juan Carlos Granados of Highland Park with assault with a
deadly weapon and possessing two sticks of dynamite that were allegedly
found in his room.

Granados and a second suspect who's still being sought are accused of
shooting at rival gang members in a passing car.

One of the bullets struck the little girl in the abdomen instead as
she tried to close the door to her house. She remained hospitalized
today in critical but stable condition at Los Angeles County-USC Medical
Center.
