To take take part in the Warcraft 3 Public Test Realm, download the file and install it. In the WC3 menu browse the icon next to Battle.net button and choose the PTR.
After the ultimate Warcraft 3 Patch 1.29, which was the first in the new decade, here is the second part, which comes in really fast after the previous one:
The Blizzard Senior Producer Pete Stilwell posted the news into the Warcraft Blizzard forums and unleashed the news to the world! It is really surprising that the patch is so big, the changes will have a high impact on the game and the balancing! The balancing has more an impact for the high level players of warcraft 3 and of course for 1on1 matchups. Battle.net RT matches will not be affected too hard.

Blizzard is testing the Warcraft 3 Patch on a PTR (Public Test Realm) read below how you can take part and test it.
We are sure Blizzard will do some small adjustments, before it goes online on the live servers!
Finally the ladder and tournament pages are fixed! This was really annoying:
My main reason browsing the site is definetly when I take part in tournaments. Because only on the Warcraft 3 official tournament page I can see, if I reach the top 16 for the finals or not.
The site was totally broken, it is very nice that this got fixed! dia
As for the original problem. I suggest looking up Bonjour related connectivity problems. It could potentially be caused by local network, or even PC, firewalls and such blocking the required communication packets.
I just tested things out again and we are able to play LAN games with standard melee maps IF we jump through a strict hoop. The first time one of us joins the LAN lobby with a standard melee map, the lobby closes for both players. If we load up the same standard melee map again, we can get into the lobby and play. If we load up a different standard melee map, the lobby closes again.
bonjour have no functionality that i know of other than destroy the pc running it. apple probably includes in their license agreement that they will not be help responsible for any damage. that is quite normal actually for a license agreement. blizzard should make warcraft 3 work on lan again. no need to use bonjour for it as most people have either windows or mac os in their homes, rarely both. blizzard could create their own cross system thing instead however.
downloading through lan worked before. it is likely just a glitch. i did test lan play and i could see the game on the client. when i tried to join it however: it crashed(the client game). it never got bonjour started properly. that is another reason to drop bonjour, the fact that it does not always work properly(it can also not be shut down in windows 7). i have now tested lan and the map does download. on the other hand: if the host leaves during game, the client loses.
Works perfectly for me as well, and everyone else I know. I even ran 4 LAN games simultaneously using local loopback with it. It seems just a select few people like andreasasp2 have issues with it. These will likely be fixed by Apple and Blizzard soon anyway for the next patch.
Today, patch 1.30 was pushed live onto the official Warcraft 3 battle.net servers. Now with improved latency and an ever-growing player base that routinely logs on to play games, Warcraft 3 has effectively risen from the dead, once more emerging as supported RTS for the now niche, but growing community.
Warcraft 3's Twitch presence has notably improved since the last major patch. The pillars of the community, Back2Warcraft, Grubby and ToD are still the driving forces behind new viewers, but smaller pro streams are beginning to gain real traction. Professional players Foggy, Sonik, Hawk, Happy and the recently reported on MaDFroG are getting consistently higher stream numbers and followers. Game updates like this are a big reason why.
More experienced players reading through the entire patch changes may notice the problematic inclusion of two Boots of Speed in the item shop (that spawn at the beginning of the match) as well as the re-inclusion of Wand of Lightning Shield as level 2 creep drop on certain maps. Both of these changes have received scrutiny over the potential of imbalance, but per a Back2Warcraft stream, Blizzard is apparently aware of the concerns regarding Boots of Speed and are working on a fix.
Warcraft 3's enduring legacy lives on with another successful PTR to live servers patch for one of the greatest RTS games ever made. Revolutionizing gaming forever with its hero system, Warcraft 3 was the birthplace for multiple game genres that are among the most popular in the world. Everyone knows about MOBA games and the meteoric rise of Dota, but the Tower Defense genre (massively popular on mobile devices) also owes it's thanks to Warcraft 3's map editor, as it defined the tropes of the genre.

Somehow it got into my head that the trinket would go on a 1.30 min cd after using the racial meaning you had at least some benefit from it when using dubbele trinket. No idea why I would think that lol.
