SL Training with David Peck

We need to set up a 2-hour SL training within the next week or so. When’s the best time for folks? We could Web cast it so people who are interested and can’t get inworld can join. But the training itself will be inworld which means we’ll do the training inside of Second Life, so get your avatars ready and dressed. Please send me dates, times and your avatar names. We are limiting it to 10 people, so have an SL representative attend. Thanks all!

We can only do one video feed into one island. Can’t do multiple video feeds at one location.

Just have all the video stacked up on the same feed, otherwise we’ll have to change the feed which would be annoying. So we would have to attach all the videos to one big Quicktime. There’s not way to controlling video to start and stop at the same time.

Beta Voice just launched yesterday and it’s only on certain SIMS, you have to pay to have the added to your islands, it’s about $200. It’s not available to private islands right now. He doesn’t have a problem doing it if SL launches it for release. There’s no private owned island you can go to that has the audio function so this would mean we go back to typing during our inter-faith dialogue. Some folks tested the Beta Voice yesterday and couldn’t get it to work. You have to have certain software.

The only reason we need a server is so that people can field questions to an avatar who gets the questions.
Controlling video with an object doesn’t exist, it’s triggered by an avatar when they walk into a room.

He has no problems with the tents, grass, lawnchairs.
Giving away tshirts or clothes would be easy.
They can come up with a video that spins, sure they can do that.

We can come up with dart game, but it can’t cue video and audio.
You can post day one and then cue up day two and then you have a link going to day 2.
But we just have to load up the video, maybe stack it up and turn it into longer pieces.
We can set up separate feeds outside of SL and have objects that people click on that take them to 2-d, outside of SL and it would take them to BlipTV or Youtube.
We can have one big video in SL and say links to five videos outside. You have to parcel your land to be able to have more than one video feed, we’re not doing that.

2-D windows are the way to go.
One big video in the auditorium can happen, Jenn could talk people through it.

We can either make or find other objects in each tent. Say a book that presents a bible for people to go, say the Quran. We don’t want to transcribe text in SL.

Peck wants to do a conference call on:

Monday or Tuesday at 4pm, June 25/26

Date for training other SL folks, Peck wants it to be on a weekday in the morning.
