NTP, the network time protocol (DARPA RFC-1305) is now supported by
dedicated Stratum 1 servers at the U.S. Naval Observatory, Washington,
DC. The hosts are: tick.usno.navy.mil (192.5.41.40) and tock.usno.navy.mil
(192.5.41.41). These HP9000/747i servers are synchronized to within a few
hundred microseconds of the Naval Observatory Master Clock #2 using VMEbus
IRIG-b interfaces. Access is open to all NTP sites. You are requested to
notify USNO at r...@tuttle.usno.navy.mil when initiating service for the
first time.
