slrn question

I am using slrn on an OpenBSD machine with leafnode
I have sorted out all the rather odd text colour problems but
one problem remains,
the apostraphe ' appears as ??? in a lot of posts, but funnily
enough not so in any posts in this group
Can anyone point me in the right direction to rectifiy this

Sounds like an Unicode problem.

The code point U+2019 "RIGHT SINGLE QUOTATION MARK" is encoded as
three octets in UTF-8 representation (this would explain your three
question marks).

Test:
U+0027: '
U+2019: ’

If this really is the problem, then you should check your locale setup.
The command "locale" should display the current settings.

Perhaps it would be helpful, additionally to play with the
"charset" configuration command (and set it--e. g. for "display"
--to "utf-8").

Is it the difference between ' and ’?

If so, your character set, LANG setting, or font are the issue.
