I set up Phonews using aeoi and eternal september and it works somewhat but
is can be slow and not always works.
I only want to read on the bus and reply from home (unix tin), nothing fancy

You can also install at home newsportal*, open a TCP port and using a
browser on your smartphone.

<https://gitlab.com/yamo-nntp/newsportal/-/blob/master/README.org>
I have tested it with only one server but it should work with two serveurs.

And protect the virtual host with an http password...

You could go real funky, install Termux - a Linux-like environment on
Android - and use (build?) tin under Termux.

A regular of this group has built trn under Termux, so tin should be
possible as well.

'Termux'

Wow this is fantastic! I was thinking of trying to make something like
this myself, but now I don't have to. Thanks so much!

I have great memories of running Leafnode 2 but I stopped running it as
Usenet became a little less than it used to be. But still a worthwhile
thing on your setup?

you're right, low volumes, and not memorable stuff most of the times.

leadnode grants more retention than and less stress to individual.net,
plus an easy access from any lan device, that's all

Thank you.
For testing I have a readonly instance :
<https://news2web.pasdenom.info/thread.php?group=news.software.readers#>

If someone want to test the write access, it is on another address and
with an http authentication to avoid abuse, contact me by mail (reply-to
header).
I use it daily and it works fine on Android 4, 8 and 10.

In article <t87o6u...@ID-201911.user.individual.net>,
Are there any issues with updates and the Play Store?

But I like the idea as the Android newsreaders are crap even if you
upgrade to the paid one.
