This is an old Xnews anomaly...
Going back to March 2002:
<http://groups.google.com/group/news.software.readers/msg/2fe409dc2c787b5d?hl=en%02fe409dc2c787b5d>
In short, if the headers do not contain a "Lines:" line,
it shows up in Xnews as 100
If the header contains a "Lines:" line with a "1" followed by 9 spaces,
then clicking on it will change it to "10"
If the header contains a "Lines" line with a "1" and no spaces,
then it remains a "1".
