1. I have installed the *donation* key and according to the headers
it has been recognized, yet there is no evidence of a star. Have tried to
re-input the key but am told it is already installed.

2. I have created an *Archive* folder for posts I wish to keep, using rmb
click on the message and *copy/move from the drop down menu. The message
disappeared from the headers pane but did not arrive in the archive
folder??

Did you enter the Key _and_ Name form the mail you received from
Marcus? The Name in that mail may be different from the name you use
for posting.

> Have tried to re-input the key but am told it is already installed.

This information is also shown if you entered a wrong name key pair.
Just replace it with the correct values form the mail.

I am now using your key in my copy of Dialog. If the star doesn't show up
with this message, we have a problem. If it does show up, you didn't enter
it correctly. Try again and contact me by email if the problem persists.

When you are in the folder, press CTRL+F11. Do they show up now?

LOL Betty, the star is quite small and shouldn't upset Usenet users, it
sits just above the x-face siggy. Did you see mine? Only Dialog users can!!

Do I have a record of trying to splatter Usenet? :-)

dialog.chm://thekeyandthelittlestart.htm

Don't now if you are currently using Dialog, but if notice the little star
above the X-Face.

Yes Andreas, the only thing I'm unsure about is whether there should have

I just tried this here and it works just fine for me.

Do you have Dialog set to show only unread posts?

Is it possible that the mouse slipped slightly while selecting your Archive
folder and you ended up sending the message to another folder my mistake?

Did you install this copy of Dialog over a previous beta or did you do a
clean installation as suggested in the readme?

Is there a small black cloud over your head that follows you around? ;-)

Some times it's the obvious that's most difficult to see.

If you mark the message as unread before moving it to the archive folder it
will arrive at the archive folder as unread. I wouldn't be surprised if a
script could be written and attached to a button to mark the article unread
and move it to the archive folder with one click. (Just don't ask me how.)

I know that that question has now been resolved. On a related matter
though...

Can one move posts to/from folders to newsgroups ? This cannot be done in
eg. Agent, without a lot of messing around.

Yes, when you go to move the message there is a check box that asks if
you want to be able to move to newsgroups.

While running Dialog clicking on it should open the help at the specified
page. I build this in, so I can quickly point people to chapters in the
help file.

Speaking of which, is it possible to save the Help window's size and
position, including pane size, or does Windows handle that? I like to
keep it maximized with the full left pane showing, but every time I
invoke it, it's tiny again.

I found that if I had not accessed Help it wouldn't work. If I opened Help
then clicking on the link would go to the appropriate place in Help.

I could then close help and clicking on the link would work until I quit
Dialog. Restarting Dialog left me back where clicking on the link wouldn't
work until I had opened Help first.

Yep. Same here. Very clever of you to work that out ! Looks like a bug to
me. One shouldn't need to open "help" to activate a "help" link. If only
because most people wouldn't know about that prerequisite.

I also notice that the original link ;

dialog.chm://thekeyandthelittlestart.htm

now works BUT a later quote ;

>dialog.chm://thekeyandthelittlestart.htm

did NOT remain a hot link. :-(

Is that a bug ?

Great idea though. :-)

Great ! I haven't messed around with folders/email etc. in Dialog yet. This
looks like a HUGE plus for Dialog IMO. Now, if I can import newsgroup posts
from Agent AND keep the "kept/unkept" status of posts..... ? :-)

Thanks for your help.

I just tried it twice without Help loaded and it worked just fine. I
opened up Help and displayed the bookmark.

I didn't double-click, because only a single click is necessary, but it
did indeed invoke Help immediately.

Next time I reboot/re-logon, I'll see if that makes a difference.

Obviously your copy of Dialog is corrupted. Uninstall your current copy,
re-download a fresh copy and re-install. This should reinstate the bug so
that your copy will misbehave like it should. ;-)

I don't like it either. Not only can it be dangerous, but it makes it a
PITA to mark a path or an address for copying or for quoting.

No, but I'll let you know if I think of something.

I have a bunch of crap running on my system. Next time I boot into a
clean system, I'll try it again and see what happens.

Well, speaking on behalf of the "Myopic and Brain-Dead Association of the
World" we are in favor of one click URL launching. It's the standard in
web browsing and many of us even have our Windows desktop set up to launch
applications with one click.

Well, it should be an option, then, so you brain deads can have it your
way, too. ;)

My main email program gives you the option.

Absolutely it *should* be an option. After some of may recover and want to
have the program work the wrong way.

for example the link is NOT a hot link when I first go to it. :-(

If however I display "all headers" the link miraculously becomes a "hot
link". :-)

And that's why you put it into Mantis, right? ;-)

Regarding, the help file link not firing up, anyone was able to reproduce
this once the help file was opened for the first time. I mean overall first
time, not since last run or last reboot.

I was one of the ones (maybe the only one) who never had any problems
with it firing up. I've since found that was because I was using WinKey
to load it. If I load it the regular way, I have the same problem as
everyone else.
