Hi,

I am pleased to announce the release of slrn-1.0.2. You can find
information about this release at <http://slrn.sourceforge.net/>. I
would also like to acknowledge Andrew Strong for keeping the slrn
website current.

Thanks,
--John

Version 1.0.2 release notes
===========================

Version 1.0.2 is primarily a bug-fix release. See changes.txt for
details.

Note: slang version 2.2.3 or later is required. Version 2.3.0 is
the current version.

The intrinsic function get_header_flags was modified to return the
full set of flags when called with an optional argument. Symbolic
constants for the corresponding flags were added to the interpreter
interface.

The value for query_read_group_cutoff was increased to 1000.

Support for building slrnpull on win32 systems was added.

Great job.

For the record, I had to modify src/Makefile to add:

LDFLAGS = -ldl

Or else I got a compilation error about a symbol being defined in
LDL but not found, so please add it to the linker.

In some good news as well: I have been looking at the 32bit preview
version of Windows 10 and with an hour or 2 to spare I managed to get
slrn compiled and installed there using the MinGW compiler. I am not
posting from Windows 10 as there is still some fine tuning to do
(posting rather from Windows 8) but I took a screenshot to illustrate:

http://slrn.sourceforge.net/images/slrn_windows10_preview.png

This screenshot shows the slightly improved Windows Command console
but for everyday use I have installed and used console-devel, a fork
of Console 2, which still does a much better job.

Lots of fun :)

But that is all done now and slrn and slrnpull are screaming along on
the Windows 10 Preview and this is my first post from Windows 10! Final
screenshot:

There were a few little odd things with the setup, the newest version
of GVim did not cooperate so I backtracked to 7.3, fonts in Console 2
look a little odd (I will chip away at that one) but otherwise all is
well. I will write it all up when Windows 10 comes out of Preview...

Cool, I like screenshots. Your fonts look fine.

My "VC++, 2013, console" looks like this:

  Jeff-Relf.Me/X_Console.PNG

My ( DOS ) Console2 looks like this:

  Jeff-Relf.Me/Win8_Console2.PNG
  [ 2.4 megs, 2*1920 x 2*1080 pixels ]

Changing the DOS console font ( for Unicode ),
is super easy ( ha ha ).

1. Install the "DejaVu LGC Sans Mono" font.

2. Tweak a registry setting:

     [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Console\TrueTypeFont]
       "0"="DejaVu LGC Sans Mono"
       "00"=-
       ; Jeff-Relf.Me/Win_8_.REG.TXT

3. Reboot.

4. Change some console/Console2 settings...

   4.1) In a DOS console, make "DejaVu LGC Sans Mono" the default;
       otherwise, Console2 won't display Unicode.

   4.2) Edit the font face/size in "C:\__\EXEs\Console2\Console.XML".
        Like this: Jeff-Relf.Me/Console.XML.TXT

5. Auto·Run << @chcp 65001  &&  @prompt $P$_$g >>

  [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Command Processor]
  "autorun"="C:\\__\\_Source\\Init-CMD.BAT"

6. Enjoy.
