I am configuring a new Ubuntu 14.04 server to replace my Sun system that
has been faithfully running C news lo these many years. I plan to continue
using the nn news reader but I was wondering if any of you out there could
recommend a news server system for a low volume usenet feed.

One requirement is that I be able to create local groups and have the news
server accept filtered mail (i.e., posts from mailing lists, spam mail, etc.)
and post them into these news groups.

The news server should be able to handle posting back to the newsgroups as
well as redirecting posts to specific groups as mail back to mailing lists.

Some of the packages I see available are:

slrnpull
suck
papercut
inn2
leafnode
sn

Do I just bit the bullet and install inn2 or are there advantages to any
other of these options. Thanks for any insights you can offer.

I think that is the only serious option in town. I am still struggling
along with Cnews, but I would not recommend it for a new installation.

I shall shortly face the same problem as you, but I shall probably just go
with Thunderbird. Why stick with nn?
