I agree. Articles on news servers usually cannot be removed. It is
possible to send a specially formatted cancel message, but as such
messages have been widely abused, well maintained news servers typically
ignore them. In any case, I guess relatively few news servers still retain
articles from 1996.

However, archives such as Google Groups, which 127ster seems to use, are
another story. Instructions on how to remove one's own articles from
Google Groups are available at
