I'm a disabled worker, teaching myself beadery as I await a fourth nerve
surgery. During my convelescence, I discovered a talent for repair and
design of costume jewelry. My doctor has approved this hobby as helpful
to my fine motor skill rehabilitation, fortunately.

I recently posted in one of the buy/sell newsgroups that I do this, and
offered the service to people who need costume jewelry repaired or
redesigned. I got a snippy message from a (THE?) Lord High
Cyber-executioner, saying no commercial messages are allowed and all but
ordered me to the chopping block. I'm no more a commercial entity than
are the folks who post, over and over and over, their dozens of "spare"
hard drives and other peripheral equipment. IS there a place in the net
for people who can offer a service to folks who need it?

I realize the recent bombing by the lawyer-dweebs has made everyone
antsy, but it would be a shame to throw out folks with the very best

think these folks are at LEAST doing what I'm doing...supplementing
their income by providing a service: reconditioning computer parts.
However, they're luckier than I...mine is a straight "service," though
no more a "commercial entity" than is theirs. IS there a place in the

net for people who can offer a service to folks who need it?

intentions along with the drek.

If you posted to the buy/sell groups, I wouldn't worry about it. It was
likley that he was in error. Usually if someone posts an ad in the wrong
place, they will get a lot more than one letter. What group did you post
it in?
