anyway...]

I just found out that the site for the second major draft of the Great
Renaming FAQ which I've cited in the past (for example, in my Usenet
newsgroup chronology posts um, last year?) is no longer reachable.

This was the site of the FAQ's own author, Lee Bumgarner; it was thus
reasonable to assume that it would be the most current version on
the Web.

The most popular site for the FAQ, at vrx.net, is still there, but
it remains stuck at the first draft, which stops earlier than the
second and lacks much of the second draft's material even for the
period they both cover.

Google does reveal one site with something that looks to me like the
second draft, Boris Schaefer's "Uncommon Sense":

<http://www.uncommon-sense.net/interests/usenet/renaming-faq/>

The site in Italy that has this version webbed is also still up,
and somewhat easier to use than it was:

<http://www.linux.it/~md/usenet/>

But I thought it worth posting this, for several reasons:

1) To try to elicit information about other sites that might have it,
more recent drafts (I'm cc'ing the last address I have for the
author), etc.

2) If no more recent drafts do emerge, to encourage others to put it
up too. I'm feeling kind of sorry I didn't dump it into my
archive when doing the mad battery of uploads and downloads in
July, before I lost home net access yet again; at any rate, I
can't right now. But others could...

3) To let people know that the address I've posted isn't working
any more, sigh.

All for now.
