The server news.east.earthlink.net hasn't been functioning since March
1 and the responses from support are contradictory. Anyone know the
truth? Whom should I contact at earthlink if support is clueless?
Thanks, Jack

So there have clearly been problems, and may still be, but other users
have not reported the server as being entirely non-functional at any
time.

Mail to the addresses given in the headers is no longer being
read. To mail me, substitute "clara.co.uk" for "freeuk.com".

No, But I could find no mention of the problem at the EL web pages.
Someone in a consumers' group advised me to use the west server and it
worked. Should have thought of it myself, but support didn't suggest
it. On the contrary, their responses were clueless. One thought I
was talking about email. Another told me that they have no way of
telling what is wrong with newsservers. They seemed not to care. At
any rate, the east server was up and running again as of Saturday
afternoon.

Thanks,
Jack
