Hi there,

I have a problem setting up my Cnews components to do my posting.

I'm not actually running Cnews, I use suck to pull a relatively small
newsfeed, and I use Cnews components to do the local delivery stuff.
I get the news allright, but I'm having trouble posting.

If I try to post something with Pnews (or replying) I get an errormessage
newsspool:renouncing setuid due to nonstandard NEWSPATH in enviroment
newsspool:could not create temp file (/var/spool/news/in.coming/nspool.aXXXXX)
(permission denied)

So what's wrong ? Apparently this is permission related stuff. Do I need
to hack newsspool sources, or is the problem really my NEWSPATH enviroment
variable (it is /bin:/usr/bin )? What is newsspool trying to find
in these directories ?

My own diagnosis is that some program is trying to write
to the /var/spool/news/in.coming directory, but can't do it because
of permissions. What should the permissions be then ?

What I'm aiming to do is to let Pnews (or reply) create this temp file
and then take over with my own script files and rpost from the suck package
to actually do the posting to the remote server.
