Introduction:
"soc.culture.taiwan.moderated" will provide a well-controlled newsgroup for
worldwide discussions about Taiwan through robomoderation, when excessive
crosspostings have effectively wiped out most of the soc.culture.xxxx
hierarchy. With the creation of "soc.culture.taiwan.moderated", people
interested in serious discussions about Taiwan can participate in the
robomoderated group without wading through crossposted flamebaits, while
those believing in anarchy can stay in the unmoderated group
"soc.culture.taiwan". Because spams, alt.* groups are dieing and Ive
to move 'alt.culture.taiwan' to 'soc.culture.taiwan.modreated'.
Charter:
This group is for discussions about things Taiwanese, like the food, local
folk festival, temples, religion, entertainment, politics, and other
features characterize Taiwan. Spams, large binary posts, posts with
significant amount of HTML tags, off-topic commercial ads are not
appreciated.
Moderation Policy:
There are effectively only two moderation rules for
"soc.culture.taiwan.moderated" currently proposed:
(1) Crossposting constraints:
(a) if a post is crossposted in both "soc.culture.taiwan.moderated" and
"soc.culture.taiwan", it will be counted as posted in one group
only for the robomoderator's purpose.
(b) if a post is crossposted in two newsgroups, there can be only
one group in Followup-To:. "poster" counts as one group.
(c) No posts will be approved when crossposted in more than 2 groups.
(2) The posters need to use a valid E-mail address for postings, or
alter their addresses according to a predetermined rule for the
robomoderator to derive the real address.
These two rules together should eliminate most of the net abuses issues
and/or offensive posts through robomoderation. Four other rules might
be implemented if necessary:
(1) "rot13" applied for posts with offensive terms.
(2) Extra headers required for posting Chinese encoded materials (using
ASCII 128-255).
(3) No HTML tags initiating Javascript, Java and Active-X codes on reader's
machines.
(4) Certain posters especially those from sites closely associated with
net abuses might be put under manual moderations.
