Roman Racine took over after Alexander's untimely death, but - AFAIK -
never had the time to fully familiarise himself with the inner
workings of the system to move it to newer hardware.

Ray Banana, operator of
news.eternal-september.org, posted in
de.comm.provider.usenet (in September 2020, fittingly) that Roman does
not have enough time to put the server back into operation after a
hardware/harddisk failure, and was looking for someone to take over
(<
m2y2lk1...@raybanana.net>, German language).
I was told from a credible source :) the best way to contact Roman
would be on Facebook. I'm a peer of
news.albasani.net, but didn't get
a hold of Roman via mail yet.

And the moderators.isc.orc relay, the <
http://huhu.albasani.net/>
moderation robot instance, and the source code for huhu and the
albasani.net server (though I copied the SVN repos for those some time
ago).
