Hi all,

The news server news.albanani.net has been down for almost a year.
I bet I've missed something; has anyone got news from his newsmaster
Alexander?

Can we assume the news server is definitively off?
Same thing for the alba-nocem NoCeM notices?

Too bad also for the closure of the useful albasani.net wiki, git
repository, etc.

I know you mean Roman Racine, who took over in July 2012 after Alexander
Bartolich's death.

Beyond hints of third parties reporting that real life got in the way,
I've seen no statements from him directly.

Oh, I'm so sorry for my question.
Kind thoughts to Alexander who left us too young.

OK, noted. Thanks for your answer.

Roman Racine took over after Alexander's untimely death, but - AFAIK -
never had the time to fully familiarise himself with the inner
workings of the system to move it to newer hardware.

Ray Banana, operator of news.eternal-september.org, posted in
de.comm.provider.usenet (in September 2020, fittingly) that Roman does
not have enough time to put the server back into operation after a
hardware/harddisk failure, and was looking for someone to take over
(<m2y2lk1...@raybanana.net>, German language).

I was told from a credible source :) the best way to contact Roman
would be on Facebook. I'm a peer of news.albasani.net, but didn't get
a hold of Roman via mail yet.

And the moderators.isc.orc relay, the <http://huhu.albasani.net/>
moderation robot instance, and the source code for huhu and the
albasani.net server (though I copied the SVN repos for those some time
ago).
