It's the best solution, I think. Let's give the users power to decide for
themselves. If Google posters find that nobody responds to their posts,
they'll figure a way to use a normal newsserver, but I don't want to force
my users to be part of this campaign.
Most of them use Usenet long enough to know how to use killfile.

I don't think the interest is commercial. Most servers nowadays are run by
volunteers and provided for free, because they (we) just like Usenet and
want to keep it running (and can afford the -- relatively small -- costs
of keeping and maintaining the infrastructure).
There are exceptions, but I think they're rare.
I wouldn't shed a tear if Google stopped providing its service, but I
won't depeer it on my server as long as valid posters use it. It wouldn't
be fair to my users.
