Mixmin blocked by Hetzner

Hello!

If anybody is wondering why Mixmin isn't accessible anymore:
The host Hetzner shut it down because it has been abused by spammers,
especially in the hierarchy de.*.

The operator didn't do something against it and didn't answer to abuse
mails.

Hetzner first just blocked IPv6 port 119 and 563 incoming.
Now they blocked IPv4 and IPv6 completely for the IP addresses, so
all Mixmin services cannot be used.

But when attempting to post it seems to always reply that you're
not allowed to post to any group you try to post to. It looks like
it's gone read-only now, like Neodome.

It was nothing to do with "Hetzner Online GmbH" blocking Steve Crook. Whoever was spreading that rumour should be ashamed of himself.

MixMin is still hosted on German Nazi servers (IP 144.76.182.167) and there is no way they can block a fee paying customer. The customer is paying by the by the band-width consumed (I imagine) so why should German Nazi worry about spam. They get paid for everything so they should just shut up and let the customer run his newsgroups. It's easy money for any hosts because they have no need to worry about support costs. Customer manages his own servers and the only time he needs to contact them is when there is catastrophic fault because of some hacker managed to penetrate the firewall. Putin's Wagner army is disbanded so that's not a problem now for us but it might be a problem for the dictator.

IPv6 is still blocked.

IPv4 port 119 works, but I cannot post to de.test.

IPv4 port 563 denies posting at all.

$70.00 per month is a rip off IMO and you are financing their Nazi activities. I wouldn't waste time on hetzner. Alternative is to use Azure, GCP, AWS or Oracle. I am using Oracle Free Tier for websites but you can also run news-servers as well.

It looks like Steve Crooks has decided to cut his losses by terminating the hosting at Hetzner. It used to be "read only" but now even that is not available. Today is 6th July, 2023 and this is the first time I decided to check to see if there are any more changes or not on MixMin.

Now only the sewer news server is free it seems. Is this the best time to start a new premium server (a small fee to charge) for the unwashed trolls to subscribe to? Just testing the market if it is a good business investment!!
