This is incredibly damaging to my reputation, as I've been an outspoken
advocate against comment spamming, splogging and shilling. This is also
completely antithetical to everything my book and my business are
about. So when someone who doesn't know me gets one of these faked
comments and that's their first impression -- not good.
I've filed a complaint with the FBI and I've contacted the legal
department at About.com, who I write for and is one of the sites being
linked to. I'm also going on a counter-PR campaign to try to protect my
name and reputation and to catch this criminal, shut them down, and
prosecute them.
I'm open for additional suggestions on how to handle this. Also, if
you run a blog, please take a look at the following post I did on my
blog explaining the situation and consider posting about it on your
blog.
