The current moderator of comp.dcom.telecom (AKA "Telecom Digest"), Bill
Horne, is reporting that the second moderator of that newsgroup, Pat
Townson, has died.

Pat was one of the longest-serving moderators of one of the
longest-running Usenet newsgroups. Pat's service spanned well over two
decades, and the newsgroup is well into its third.

Pat was a influential, and sometimes controversial, moderator who was
also an influence on many moderators and moderated newsgroups who came
after him.
