Preferred post-Dnews software for small time installations?

Especially for those who used to run DNews and/or SurgeNews in small
environments such as intranets: what do you use now that NetWin has
discontinued those products? Do you choose e.g. INN instead, or have you
gone over to web-based forum software?

... or Microsoft Exchange folders, or any other non-NNTP solution?
