Hey, ONI -

Here's what Bill, Ed and I agreed at today's meeting:

1) None of us can commit to feeding the blog. We're in total support of Jen or anyone else continuing to do so, or of soliciting other volunteers, but we ain't them. We also understand that it might be frustrating for Jen to keep doing it alone -- if it's not worth it to her to continue, so be it.

2) Even if nobody were posting to the blog, it makes sense to us to keep it minimally alive as an excuse to stay in touch (we all seem to get along) and as a way to have it in case somebody wants to resurrect it at some point in the future. To do that, we'd suggest:
- letting oregonnewsincubator.com and oregonnewsincubator.net expire
- renewing oregonnewsincubator.org once a year in the spring ($10?)
- renewing the branded hosting with wordpress.com once a year in the fall ($8?)

Assuming we do this, Michael can be the bill-payer and hound other members for reimbursement. Betsy can transfer the domain to him.

Sound fair? Any questions?

love,
Michael (also speaking for Bill and Ed)

Michael,

The domain is available for transfer right now - all you need to do is
to initiate the transfer process from your domain registrar of
choice.

As a data point - I'm using namecheap.com, and just paid 8.16 to
transfer a domain, using a discount code that got me a buck off the
normal 9.00 fee.

Once you've initiated the transfer, I'll approve it with GoDaddy - and
then it'll be yours to manage from here on out. Note that you won't
need to change settings/DNS, which has already been assigned to
WordPress.

FYI, the normal cost to point a domain at an existing wordpress.com
blog is 12 dollars per year. I paid for a one-year renewal on
10/31/11; anyone with admin rights on the blog can handle this in
October of this year.

- Betsy
