Hearty recommendation for the Maison de Ville - nice ambience, good
service and {used to be a great secret} excellent food in the Bistro.

I believe the Audobon Cottages are, in face, part of the Maison de Ville.

I stayed in the Audubon cottages in 1988 for 5 days...honeymoon. Our cottage
was tastefully appointed, although not plush. Lots of antique or faux
antique furnishings in the living area. As with many FQ dwellings, the
interior rooms are quite dark, and the several table lamps do not help much.
The pool is very nice, and was deserted, despite the place being filled up
with JazzFest attendees. Despite its detachment from the Maison D'Ville (the
cottages are an outpost of the MDV), the service was stellar. At the time,
Susan Spicer was in residence at the hotel restaurant, The Bistro, and room
service was damn good. All in all, I thought it was a great place for a
get-away; the experience is quite different from being in a hotel, given the
seclusion. My only negative impression comes from one evening in which a
hooker and a drunk carried on a prolonged discussion out on the
sidewalk--which was seperated from the head of our bed by a brick wall. If
you go, request a cottage in which the bedroom does not adjoin the street.
