Patricia Lopez Melgar, a 25-year-old woman hailing from Gretna, has been
arrested under the charge of acting as a principal to second-degree
murder. The gruesome incident unfolded outside Melgar’s apartment on
Gretna Boulevard on a fateful Wednesday night.
Alleged Love Triangle Turns Fatal
Melgar is accused of a heinous act, luring her 39-year-old lover, whose
identity remains undisclosed pending family notification, to a
horrendous death. The execution, allegedly, was carried out by none
other than her own boyfriend. This unnamed man, besides being a suspect
in the murder, is also the father of Melgar’s two children.
A Violent Encounter
Reports indicate that the boyfriend shot the victim multiple times
following a brutal physical altercation inside the latter’s vehicle. The
crime scene spoke volumes of a violent struggle that preceded the
shooting. Melgar, who was present during the incident, chose silence
over justice and did not contact the police.
Arrest and Investigation
Melgar was eventually arrested at a relative’s house located in
Metairie. As of now, she is being held without bail at the Jefferson
Parish Correctional Center. Meanwhile, the Gretna Police Department is
seeking the aid of the public to further their investigation into this
