T or C shows

Well hello again.  We are DESPERATELY in need of stewards for the T or C shows.  So far Donna Gates, Lorraine Lester, Kathy Powell (showing dachshund,border collie), Linda Jarrett (showing lhasas), Sandy Devlin for Sat and Sun only,  and one or two possibles but no commitments  -- are all we have for 5 conformation rings.  The NMSA is willing to pay DOUBLE the regular amount for stewards to do these shows.  We would  really appreciate your help.  If you cannot steward, do you know anyone who will be showing at these shows who might possibly be willing to steward, and who does know how.  We can even give a quick re-training (and I mean quick) at the show start on Thursday or whenever -- .  please, please help!    Lorraine Lester

I am almost completely disabled.  Can not drive or stand for long.  I have to lie down after lunch or I can't make it through the day.  It's hell growing old and can't do anything i used to do.  I know Susan has 4 dogs that would need a dog sitter and she is not in much better shape than I am.  Clark and I are thinking of moving into an assisted living place because neither one of us is able to do much.

I have competition at the TorC shows and have entered (class male Kuvasz) and will be there. I can Steward all 4 days of the show. I asked Foy Trent to schedule Kuvasz as the 1st dog in on the second set of times for the Judge. This way I can set up the ring, go show and then come back and finish up the ring.

I am VERY grateful that NMSA has decided to double the rate. I love to Steward and do it for the pure joy of being at a dog show. This increase in pay may mean that for the first time in the many years of Stewarding for he NMSA i might come out in the black for expenses (minus entry fees)

Thank you Phyllis -- well the counts are posted on the Foy Trent website -- and they look pretty small ....so far 203 dogs on Thurs, and 302 on Friday -- haven't finished counting Sat or Sunday yet but probably not much more -- have no idea how many rings that will amount to..... hmmmmm    we'll see.  LL

i know that this is going to sound like I am asking for the World, but are the Clubs supplying free grooming to Stewards? I know that the ABQ shows do. I was supposed to set up with a friend who got RV parking but now is not going to attend the shows.

Yes and there is required by AKC rules to be equivalent free grooming at ant any site with paid grooming. Per the NMSA contract, grooming is provided all ring stewards.in need of same.  The reason many of us have gotten our own grooming space in ABQ has been because when a huge space was provided, very few people utilized it.  The clubs then put the photographer there and put us into a regular sized 10 x 10 space which  didn't work well with about 12-14 crates in there, facing one another...Since there is a new reservations system for ABQ it makes it possible to allocate space for stewards and still sell more usable area to those paying.

Personally, and I will say it again and again....we get an awful lot of perks.  I think we might want to be grateful for the opportunity to help out judges first and foremost...:)  But then, that's just me.
