Following the board meeting last week who imposed some
requirements on the secretary that I do not feel I can do at this
time, I am also resigning as secretary. My dues have been sent in
to remain a member. I am going to have knee replacement surgery
in mid Jan and with making preparations for that and then the
followup care I do not feel I have the time to adequately do the
job.

After considerable deliberation and even a visit to the emergency room for stress after our meeting, I am resigning as President and member of the Board of Directors of New Mexico Stewards Association. No long speeches or platitudes. I have served the Association for 38 years in many capacities but now I just wish to remain a member so long as the Association exists, and continue stewarding whenever I can. Lorraine Lester.

My surgery is Jan 17th and they said I would be in the
hospital (ABQ VA) for 2-3 days. At this time I plan on staying at
Lorraine's house for physical therapy and such at least until the
30th on which is my first post-op visit. I will not be allowed to
drive but should be mobile with my walker a couple of weeks out.
Lorraine's house is a little small for the whole membership to
attend and probably too cold to meet outside.
Thank you both for your service. I appreciate and understand your feelings regarding your ability to serve, Donna, and for your feelings, Lorraine, regarding the viability and continuing existence of the group.
At the Board Meeting last week, attended by Lester (pres), McNall (vp), Spreadley (treasurer) Jarrett (Board member), Summerhill (Board Member) and Jeram (Board Member) it was decided to keep the NMSA active through 2017, while we consider the option of shutting the organization down or attempting to grow our membership to adequately serve the clubs in a reasonable and beneficial way. Elaine Summerhill will be preparing a letter regarding this, and will also provide a copy of the minutes to this list.
I am appointing Linda Jarrett to fill the vacant vice-presidency, and Elaine Summerhill to the office of Secretary. We now have two vacant Board positions and will welcome any and all volunteers for these positions.
In January we will be having an annual meeting to discuss reasonable alternatives to the current stewarding policies. Hope we can reach an amiable agreement. I don't have a date or location yet, Donna, when will your surgery be happening? We'll try to schedule around that...or maybe meet in your hospital room. (jk)
Let's see if we can come up with some new member suggestions for now.
Hoping everyone has a Wonderful Christmas Holiday and a Peaceful New Year.

It's kind of going to depend on the weather. If all looks
clear I won't be down until the 16th. All my pre-op stuff is done
so just have to check in when they tell me to on the 17th
