The 10th annual New England Workshop on the Mechanics of Materials and Structures (NEW.Mech) will take place at UMass Amherst on Saturday, October 5, 2019. NEW.Mech is a one-day workshop that aims to bring together the New England Mechanics community with an interest in exploring new directions in the mechanics of materials and structures and share the latest advancements in the field. As in past years, the workshop is completely free of charge. We will be featuring invited and contributed talks, a poster session, and a post-workshop reception.

Talk title: Microballistics: An emerging opportunity for quantitative extreme mechanics of nanomaterials
Allen E. and Marilyn M. Puckett Professor of Mechanics and Materials, Harvard University
Talk title: Fatigue-resistant materials
Registration for NEW.Mech 2019 is open now. Please visit the NEW.Mech2019 website for more information and to register. Anyone submitting a short talk, poster, or video must register and submit information by Monday, September 23rd. We will be making decisions on short talk, poster, and video submissions shortly thereafter, with instructions to follow for those whose are accepted. For everyone else, the general registration deadline is Wednesday, September 25th.
