Dear New.Mech friends and colleagues,

I am writing to share with you some exciting mechanics talks that are happening in-person at MIT this Fall, and are open to the broader community. Please find attached a ‘Save the Date’ flyer (feel free to distribute broadly). Note that guests coming from outside of MIT will need to register to obtain access to the campus, via the embedded links in the attached pdf version. We will share more detailed information as the seminars approach, for now please mark your calendars!

The C.C. Mei Distinguished Speaker Series was founded and has been organized since 2015, in honor of Prof. Chiang C. Mei. It aims to provide a vibrant forum for highly distinguished speakers, from around the world, to share their research with the CEE, MIT, and local Boston community.

With the warmest regards,

Tal Cohen (and the New.Mech team)

Dear New.Mech friends and colleagues,

I am writing to share details about two exciting mechanics talks that are happening in-person at MIT in the coming weeks, and are open to the broader community.

  • Nov. 14 - Alain Goriely from Oxford, will be talking about ‘The mechanics of chirality: from Darwin’s perversion to Feynman’s obsession’  (registration link).
  • Nov. 28 – Alan Needleman from Texas A&M, will be talking about ‘Discrete defect plasticity & implications of requiring non-negative dissipation’ (registration link).

Please find attached flyers with more information about location and abstract. Note that guests coming from outside of MIT will need to register to obtain access to the campus, via the links above.
