Field conditions

I know we took an impromptu vote a few weeks ago to stay on the turf.

However, after playing there yesterday (4v4) - folks may be reconsidering going back to grass.

I'm taking an official tally - please respond (to me directly or to the whole group) on your preference   Please try to respond today (or at least before our game tomorrow).

1. Grass field (right now it would be creekside, unless someone has a different better park in mind??).

2. Continue at the turf field

If we move to grass, it would only apply for the rest of the summer (July and August), and we would return to the turf field on dry creek in September.

I had to quit yesterday due to my feet burning. I drove around lookin for different field. My choice is the Silver Creek High School.

The image below shows the field location with respect to Dry Creek. It is almost a walking distance to Seagate. for some reason, google is not allowing me to paste the picture, but anyway you can see the field in the google map. It is next to the main field with lights.

This is a grass soccer field that they used before adding an artificial one. The grass is very nice and mowed regularly. Parking is available next to the field.

In case you are wondering if we can use the field below is the response from searching the question.

  Yes, Longmont residents can use the high school fields in the St. Vrain Valley School District (SVVSD) for community activities, but generally when they are not in use for school events. The district encourages community use, prioritizing youth activities.

We used to play at Calabria Park in my Renaisance neighborhood some years ago.  The grass there is being unkept well by new landscapers

Only issue there might be home owners association.  Don't know if you remember but Zach or someone else living in community had to hold them off...ie, home owners can invite guests to field.

Calabria Park is an option if Silver Creek HS doesn’t work out.  I am open to Left Hand Creek Park also

Ok - so far, I have 8+ votes for grass - by far the majority.    Also, I think everyone that voted for grass want to come back to turf when the weather cools.

I would go with KT suggestion and try silver creek tomorrow.  If we get kicked out, we can try the field by Mike (and Zac; btw I think it's called the yellow park).   

Please note, that we can only play at silvercreek until Aug 13 +/- (school starts around then).   We may have to switch to Mike's field for a few weeks and then come back to turf when it gets cooler.

A few other options with the City of Longmont parks, would be Blue Sky park or the Red Barn park (fordham & nelson)

FOR TOMORROW

 Please meet at Silver creek.  On the image below - I point out where we can park and play and where the turf fields are.   The entrance to silver creek is either on Nelson road or on Grandview Meadows (go north past the turf fields and turn left just before the townhomes on the left).
