lively was a keystone in my website with the notable handicap of the
lack of a linux port. I need to know these things.

Newlively is not an opensource project.
we have a plan to provide linux version when windows version is
stable. But the priority is lower than a stable windows version.

why isn't it open source? a community developed project, especially
one with an established community such as lively would move along far
more quickly than closed source, and you'd also not need to worry
about providing a linux port as you could compile from source code. is
it a propritary engine or something?

I agree. This service has barely any users, and it's not even
assoicated with Lively, they have some cheek to use the Lively name!

Jay... ..... You have to keep in mind the NewLively is in its ALPHA
stage and is in no way a complete and developed system. So naturally
the amount of users in the system is going to be low. I assure you
there are many waiting for this system to be complete and will gladly
visit and use it. No one else out there on the web has taken the bold
move to try and preserve ( not even google ) so to say they have
"some cheek" to me is a bit misspoken. They cant have affiliation
with lively because it would be a breach of copy rights. New Lively
has shown the lively users the respect they deserve by creating this
place. NewLively is actively supporting the livelyzens group in
helping them to restore there rooms that were taken from them.
