Senior Front End Java Developer: Glastonbury, CT
Our customer located in the Hartford area has the need for a Sr. Java Developer.  The ideal candidate has experience with GITHUB, Java J2EE with Restful web services and an Oracle PL/SQL background.  This project will produce an enterprise wide application interfacing with other business applications.

 Responsibilities include:

  • Gain an understanding of customer requirements by working with the project manager
  • Create Specs
  • Development
  • Leading a team of 3 other developers
  • Analyze code and data as well as determine root cause of issues and pursue resolution with other teams as needed including data, interface, or application issues
  • Assisting with customer test plans

 Job Requirements

  • 5+ years working with Java J2EE web-based applications
  • Experience with Github
  • Experience with NPM
  • 3 years’ experience with Restful Web Services
  • 3 years’ experience with Angular 4 (or higher) and CSS
  • 3 years’ experience in a technical lead role
  • 3 years’ design experience
  • 3 years’ experience with Javascript and JSON
  • Experience coding Oracle PL/SQL packages and procedures
  • Must be a team player with strong attention to quality processes, with the ability to handle competing priorities and projects.

Compensation: Corp2Corp: $75-77/Hour & W2 $67-68/Hour (WE CAN PRESENT HIGHER IF NEED BE)

Summary

We are seeking a Front-end JavaScript developer with experience in one or more client-side frameworks, as well as a solid understanding of JavaScript fundamentals. You need to be comfortable with the full software development life-cycle from design through implementation and testing. You must be able to communicate effectively with users in order to elicit requirements and document your findings ranging from full design documents or simple bug tickets and issues. The work at Southern is a mix of modernizing legacy systems and building completely new with plenty of exciting greenfield projects on the horizon.

 

Experience
A history of delivering structured and maintainable web applications. Any projects completed in BackboneJS and/or Marionette are a plus. Maintaining your front-end skills, keeping current duringthe recent explosion in web technologies. Can demonstrate your ability to learn and adopt unfamiliar frameworks. Familiar with responsive web design and delivering to mobile platforms (HTML / SASS) with or without supporting frameworks (bootstrap / flexgrid). Consume REST web services. Use of Git as a code repository. Work in a mixed Windows/Unix environment.

Some other core duties include

  • Meet with users to find out what they want from their web applications and online projects especially regarding user interface and experience.
  • Present web design plans and UI layout ideas to clients Perform usability tests and analyze the results to gauge the consumer’s experience when using web applications and online programs. Able to do code reviews
  • Follow coding patters/standards but also willing to provide input on new paths
  • Analyze user data to evaluate user interfaces for existing applications and web pages and to
  • identify areas needing improvement. Use visual aids such as wireframes, storyboards and UI
  • flow charts, to plan and present user interface designs.
  • Must be able to work onsite
  • Keep current with the latest trends and best practices of UI/UX design and HCI
