Come To The Budget Deliberations Meeting Tomorrow, Thursday 5/17/12 @ 6pm
This is a reminder that there is the first budget deliberations meeting tomorrow night. I hope you will come and bear witness.
This is when the BOA will debate the budget and make recommendations. Let's see if they make proposals consistent with their campaign pledges. Let's see who stays quiet and who proposes serious amendments to the Mayor's budget. There are alders who have been on the BOA for a very long time and who have been on the finance committee for a very long time so they know the budget very well. They are situated to make serious recommendations. Will they stay quiet again? Are they just making statements to appear sympathetic to the concerns of the citizens or are they taking their role seriously by making serious proposals?
Let's keep them accountable by being present or we can expect more of the same. City Hall and the Board Of Ed have been doing their own organizing and will be sure to turn out people to speak on behalf of more spending, more employees and more new debt ($78 Million in new debt).
