I have decided to personally invest in 2 wind farms that are under development, Redington Maine and Equinox in NH. I have learned what a daunting challenge it is to develop a wind farm. I have also learned that manufacturers are not interested in talking to someone who wants to put up a couple of towers, they are interested in the big projects, generally at the very least 6 turbines.Your information confirms what I was told, the Bristol-Bridgewater range is only marginally profitable. Land costs here in the lakes region are also higher than further north so I doubt we will see turbines popping up around Newfound Lake anytime soon!!Gene BankIf anyone is interested in investing in the 2 projects I they can contact Harley Lee at Endless Energy in Yarmouth ME. His phone number is 207 847 9323. Investment minimum is $10,000. Of course there are many obstacles and the risk that the farms will never come online but the returns and the cause are good!!

Hi all,
I had a long and worthwhile phone conversation with Mark Fraser from
PSNH this afternoon. Curt Money had given me Mark's name (Thanks
Curt!).
I learned a lot from Mark. He later sent me links to some of the web
sites he had mentioned in our conversation. The New Wind Energy link
lead me to a wind farm in Lempster, NH that is scheduled to come on-
line this month.
http://www.newwindenergy.com/wind-farms/wind-farms-summary00/under-
development-lempster/
The first link below is fascinating to play with: - like Google Earth
for alternative energy sources. This was on that site:
The Bridgewater-Bristol ridge is rated as "marginal", so it is highly
unlikely (in my opinion) that we could get a wind farm developer
interested in it. According to Mark Fraser, the commercial wind farm
developers use such maps to seek out areas with high development
potential (e,g., Lempster).
So...
I thank Gene Bank for raising our collective consciousness on the
wind farm possibility, but question that we have the right site for
it. NIMBY? I would love to have a wind farm in my BY (or FY), but
must question its short-term development feasibility.
So...
I'm off this case.
Next?
/Ellie

Did you hear the story on NPR this morning regarding the proposed wind farm west of the Adirondacks in NY?Interesting.Regards,

Time to focus on hydroelectric generation. We have two working plants in our area and plenty of potential.
I’ve had some interesting conversations along this line recently. It would be good if more people could dig into things like the NH tax structure and the one-size-fits-all reports and tariffs.
We could be oil-free in this area within a few years. Only red tape and lack of tax incentives are slowing down hydro development.
Who will help?
