Subject: GOING OUT of BUSINESS: SWAN SONG...

GOING OUT of BUSINESS: SWAN SONG
Back to Roots: Completely Reworked: CHAIN LETTER of a NATURE DIFFERENT 1
by Citizen Journalist and Richard DePersio

As Carol Burnett used to sing: "I'm so glad  we spent this time together."
We are requesting a parting prize/gift. Please read or reread 15 articles
/group/nasa-our-way, /group/yellowfeverlime101 We discussed numerous
issues over the past two and a half years: science/technology; politics;
economics; history; foreign policy; we even enjoyed a laugh or two.
We hope that we inspired you to email and/or phone your members
of Congress, as well as, other key members of that highly respected
body! (The congressional names listed below are key for many of the
issues that we discussed). It does make a difference: members of
congressional staffs keep a tally on pros and cons on issues; they share
most interesting comments with their bosses; they do pay attention
to what you have to say for they know that the people who contact
their offices are likely voters. Let's continue to fight for the issues that
we discussed. Further, we hope that we inspired you to look even more
deeply into these issues. Please feel free to email articles to family
members, neighbors, friends and co-workers (just give us credit; we
worked hard on them!) as part of our doing a Second American Revolution
Together.
We started with 17 readers, two and a half years ago, and now enjoy
up to 350 readers (or visits). Thank you. As Sinatra sang: "Regrets, we
had a few but than again to few to mention. Through it all, we stood tall
and did it our way." (He actually sang "MY" not "OUR" by our suits OUR
purposes). We will mention one: we wish that we had received more
feedback.
We have a crisis: NASA might have to put up a "Going-Out-of-Business"
Sign" soon unless WE do something about it soon!
Let's put things in their proper perspective...NASA is special and unique being the
only component of fed gov from which you actually get a return: for every $1 budgeted,
we get about $5 returned within approximately 7 years in the form of science and
technology. NASA is completely or partially responsible for over 30,000 discoveries
and inventions since its inception in 1958. It is the main technological engine of
our economy.
What can we do? Phone or leave a message at the website of members of
congress (info below). What should we say to the full-of-themselves? NASA receives
$17.5 billion annually or 1/2 of 1% of fed budget. Congress plans to cut NASA's
budget by $2 billion. We realize that everyone must do their share in debt crisis.
In light of NASA's uniqueness, do you think that $500 million or about 2.5% of
NASA's budget is acceptable?
We understand that many Republicans and even a few Democrats object to
giving SpaceX and Virgin Galactic  $750 million apiece (over next three years) - a
subsidy which won't
be reimbursed. Obama wants to allocate $2.5 billion for heavy-lifter and manned-
beyond-earth-orbit program which is woefully too small for goals to be met. NASA
may as well fold up its tent and lay-off even more workers during this recession
which Obama thinks is over! NASA won't be flying anywhere for another 30 or
more years! We concur with members of Congress (capital 'C' - we must be
polite when asking for money) who want NASA to have $4 billion and let private
sector fend for itself. Just say "No" to subsidies! (Please read: Updated: Where are
My Dividends at /group/nasa-our-way). This just in: Another private company will
receive $750 million (money won't be reimbursed to nor dividends shared with
taxpayers. This is a job for risk-capital investors not private citizens.
This means that NASA could enjoy $4,750,000 to create new
technology and built upon and upgrade the technologies of Saturn 5,
Space Shuttle and R & D from defunct Constellation Program (which
will make its way to private sector and consumers within 7 years!).
CONSTITUTION and COSMOS
Subject: SAVING OUR CONSTITUTION
All Congressional legislation should come with a requisite attachment
showing the constitutionality of content. Update: House, yes; Senate, no.
Subject: A DIFFERENT and MEAN MORE! UNIQUE GOV PROGRAM - YOU
ACTUALLY GET A RETURN!
While it is only budgeted 1/2 of 1% of federal budget, you get $7 back
in pure science and applications/spin-offs (technology). NASA in our
home, car, factory, office, farm, hospital. Are you eager to
do more? Write a letter to your local newspaper (if you still read one)
or their Internet-version (if they have one). CONTACT CONGRESS
on this and other issues that we discussed. Two
 key players:
 (R; Alabama); Nelson.senate.gov/public   and/or  202-224-5274 (D; Florida).

Phone congressional operators for their phone numbers:
202-224-3121 and 202-226-7200. You don't have to know their names
but you do have to know the state in which you live! (You can also
request the name (to email) and phone #s of Chairman and Ranking
members of committees that interest you).
Subject: Fed gov owns 5 to 70% of states in the form of parks and other.
This land should be managed by the states; states should determine how
land is used. End fed gov ownership of states!!! (Not applicable to military
installations and land where federal buildings are located which represent
only a small fraction of the land within a state owned by fed and managed
by fed or fed/state).
Subject: End all subsidies except for extraordinary situations, otherwise
free market forces should operate (Read: "She Only had Time for a
Short One - Part Two" ).
                           THE LONG GOODBYE CONTINUES...
