I've already received a few emails regarding the music series looking for more info.  Love it!
We'll begin to meet on this starting next week for a select committee that would like to be more involved.

Below is a quick overview of the event with some preliminary finances:

Event:
Grand Avenue Music series
Located in the rotunda, West building

Time
Wednesdays from 6-9 PM
8 weeks long starting in January

Overview
The city has thrown millions and millions to try and re-invigorate this corridor, we're going to show them how to do it on a $12,000 budget.
The Grand Ave will become the exclusive winter music series in Milwaukee this winter.   With NEWaukee and Art Milwaukee behind the reigns, our goal is to breath light into an underutilized area to show how we can help make a difference in the community.   Luv Sac has already committed dozens of couches / chairs / bean bags to the event.  They will be scattered throughout the rotunda in a relaxed atmosphere while local musicians play to the crowd.

Finances:
Bands $4,000
Sound $500
Advertising $7500
Total - $12,000
*money will be made through alcohol and food sales.

Potential Sponsors:
Luv Sac
88.9 / 91.7
Grand Avenue Mall
Kaaplan College
Miller Lite
Applebees
OnMilwaukee.com
*any ideas and are welcome!

Thanks,
Ian

Hey Ian,

All sounds awesome. I am happy to help plan the events in whatever way I can. One thing to note, I have a commitment that prevents me from arriving earlier than 7 or 7:30 on most Wednesdays but I will do what I can ahead of time and once I get there.

Questions:
  • Do you have an official January kickoff date?
  • What kind of a commitment are you looking for from sponsors? ($/raffle prizes/promotion/other?)
  • You also might consider the Brew City Apparel people as sponsors or raffle donors?
  • Are we purchasing the sound equipment?
  • Who will serve the food/beverages?
  • Is the $12k budget the donation from Luv Sac?
  • Where will the Luv Sacs be stored? Who will set them up/tear down?
  • Is there a way to comp parking in a structure?
Cheers,
Haley

WOW, riffling off the questions already.
Doing my best to answer below:

Questions:
  • Do you have an official January kickoff date?   Jan 18th
  • What kind of a commitment are you looking for from sponsors? ($/raffle prizes/promotion/other?)  all of the above
  • You also might consider the Brew City Apparel people as sponsors or raffle donors? Great idea!
  • Are we purchasing the sound equipment? Renting it on a weekly basis
  • Who will serve the food/beverages?  Applebees will have liquor licence and surrounding vendors from food court will sell food.  we'll get a % of sales
  • Is the $12k budget the donation from Luv Sac?  Luv sac is donating product (couches)  12k needs to come from other sponsors.   Concordia and Grand ave are looking like they'll be pitching in.
  • Where will the Luv Sacs be stored? Who will set them up/tear down?  We will, they will be stored in our space and surrounding creative companies within the grand.
  • Is there a way to comp parking in a structure?  Probably reduced parking.   Such as $3 parking (normally $7) and it would come with a free food sample or hot chocolate / apple cider.
