Hello Newark Community,
This spring, the Newark Green Team is bringing neighbors together to help grow Newark’s tree canopy, and we’d love for you to be part of it!
We’re hosting six community tree-planting days across Newark, and volunteers of all experience levels are welcome. Whether you’re a longtime tree lover or just looking for a meaningful way to give back, this is a great opportunity to make a visible difference in our neighborhoods.

🌳 Spring 2026 Newark Tree Planting Schedule
🌱 April 4 – Season Kickoff Planting
Join us as we launch the spring planting season and begin greening Newark streets.
🌎 April 11 – Earth Month Planting
Celebrate Earth Month with a hands-on way to support climate resilience and cleaner air.
🌳 April 25 – Arbor Day Community Planting
Our special Arbor Day planting honoring the national holiday dedicated to trees.
🌿 May 2 – Spring Into Shade Planting
Help plant trees that will provide shade, beauty, and cooler streets for years to come.
💐 May 9 – Mother’s Day Planting
Celebrate mothers and caregivers by planting trees that nurture future generations.
🌼 May 14 – Community Roots Finale
Our final spring planting day as we wrap up the season together.
🌎 Why trees matter in Newark
Planting trees helps:
• Reduce summer heat in our neighborhoods
• Improve air quality and public health
• Support pollinators and urban wildlife
• Beautify our streets and public spaces
Most importantly, it brings neighbors together around a shared investment in Newark’s future.
🌱 Who can volunteer?
Everyone is welcome, residents, students, families, community groups, and corporate teams. No prior experience is needed, and all tools and guidance will be provided.
