Love Your Block, Newark!
Celebrating the 2025 Love Your Block Grantees
It's hard to believe, but the 2025 segment of Love Your Block, Newark! (italicize) has come to a close, and what a season it was! We want to give a massive thank you to our incredible
cohort of 20 passionate residents who dedicated their time and energy to beautifying every single ward. From planting vibrant community gardens to painting interactive murals and creating cozy book nooks in our parks, their hard work has truly transformed
our neighborhoods.
The
Love
Your Block program, presented by the City of Newark's Office of Sustainability, is all about empowering residents to take the lead in revitalizing their own communities.
By providing small grants, we saw firsthand how these amazing volunteers brought their vision for greener, safer, and more beautiful streets to life.
A huge shout-out to all our participants for their dedication and for making our city a better place to live, one block at a time! We can't wait to see what you all accomplish next.
Keep an eye out for more project highlights coming soon! In the meantime, get a sneak peek at Mia Solo's amazing work. She transformed a commercial building with a stunning mural and
planted trees to beautifully blend natural beauty with her art. Check the project's progress video
here.
We love to see all the great work you are doing. Be sure to tag the City of Newark
@CityofNewark and the Office of Sustainability @NWK_Sustainable and use the hashtags
#LoveYourBlockNewark and #NewarkForward so that we can celebrate your projects!

WHAT TO DO WHEN THERE IS AN AIR QUALITY ALERT
|
|
When an air quality alert is issued, it's crucial to minimize exposure to smoke, both indoors and outdoors. Stay inside as much as possible, keep windows and doors closed, and use
air conditioning with a recirculating setting or a HEPA air purifier. If you must go outside, limit strenuous activity and consider wearing an N95 mask.
