Where you live can have a profound impact on your health. Across the United States, communities experience vastly different health outcomes based on environmental conditions such as air quality, heat exposure, access to green space, and proximity to pollution. These patterns are often shaped by historic disinvestment, environmental racism, and inequitable urban planning.
Join the Community Engagement Core (CEC) for a conversation exploring how environmental conditions tied to our zip codes can influence health outcomes and what communities are doing to advance climate justice. This webinar will bring together leaders working at the intersection of environmental justice, public health, and community advocacy to discuss how climate and environmental factors affect health—and what solutions are emerging from the communities most impacted.
Speakers include:
• Jordana Vanderselt, MPH (she/her) – Director of Environmental Health, WE ACT for Environmental Justice
• Dr. Eric Griggs – Community Medicine Doctor and Health Educator, LSU School of Medicine, Xavier University College of Pharmacy
• Ashley Dawson – Author, Professor, The Graduate Center and College of Staten Island, CUNY
