5th Annual Environmental Justice Summit
Our Annual EJ Summit brings together residents, advocates, youth leaders, and partners to discuss environmental justice issues impacting Newark and to celebrate community leadership. The Youth Poster Contest winners will also be announced and recognized at this event.

2026 SWEA Youth GALA Environmental Justice Poster Contest
This contest invites South Ward students in grades 6 through 12 to create an original poster highlighting an environmental justice issue affecting their community. The goal is to encourage youth leadership and creativity while raising awareness about environmental justice in the South Ward.
Prizes (Middle School and High School divisions):
- 1st Place: $100
- 2nd Place: $75
- 3rd Place: $50
Submission Deadline: March 30 – April 2 (posters must be dropped off at the SWEA Office)
Location for submissions: SWEA Office, 1067 Bergen Street, Newark
