NEW annual meeting Nov. 10, 2013

Hello groups,

I am sending this to the yahoo group to make sure that anyone who doesn't belong to the google groups, receives this notice.  Any subsequent emails will go only to the yahoogroup. 

The New England Walkers annual meeting will be held at 43 Main St., Groton MA, 11 a.m., Nov. 10, 2013.  This is in Groton Center across Main St. from Lawrence Academy, at the home of Ed and Deborah O'Rourke (978-448-8038).  It is the same location as last year.  The meeting agenda will include election of officers, discussion of greater cooperation between the NEW and the racewalking clubs in Maine and Connecticut.  Thomas Knatt will not be running for election as President of the NEW.  Ed O'Rourke will be running for that post.  Please send any nominations for any offices to Thomas Knatt at thoma...@yahoo.com.    Only paid up members may nominate and vote.  Members may suggest other agenda items, by emailing Thomas Knatt.

The meeting will be preceded by a 5K or 10K walk on the Rail Trail, starting from the end of Station Ave. in Groton Center at 9:30 a.m.  These early times are so that Ed O'Rourke can make a plane from Logan at 4 p.m.

We will hold the traditional potluck at about noon.  Please RSVP to thoma...@yahoo.com if you plan to attend the meeting.and potluck.  No need to RSVP, if you plan to walk only.

Hi Tom,

I'm a co-race director for the Seacoast Half Marathon in Portsmouth, NH, which will take place on Nov. 10 this year. So I will not be able to attend the annual meeting. 

Thank you for your years of excellent leadership of the NEW! And congratulations to Ed O'Rourke on what I am assuming will be his election as the new President. Ed is an terrific choice for the leadership role.

I wholeheartedly support the concept of greater cooperation and sharing amongst the racewalking clubs in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Maine (as well as our small 'outreach' club in New Hampshire). Collaborative efforts should benefit all of the participating clubs.

I will not be at the annual meeting because I can no longer racewalk faster than ordinary walking speed and because I am no longer a member. But I appreciate being on the list.
