Dedicated followers in people-driven ministries, share a love of Christ, and a special commitment to His people. They joyfully sacrifice much more of their time, talent, treasure, skills, resources (information, possessions, relationships) to those in need, (both near and far), thereby fulfilling the purposes of God in ministry.
2. The shift from the emphasis on building up consensus numbers (quantity of the membership attendance) to focusing on building quality character and investing in developing true disciples of Jesus Christ. This is vital in making a difference in changing lives and winning souls for Christ. The ultimate focus is on exacting God only and seriously committing to His purposes, ways and will, which are what matters most.
3. Retool developmental ministry efforts from being unrelated and haphazard to being intentional and strategic. This is a significant strategy in making our church services and ministries more relevant and relational, creative experiences for personal encounters with Jesus, that must appeal to those in our church community (age, race, culture, socioeconomic status, etc) with various needs, problems, challenges, goals, (by targeting specific age groups) that we're committed to ministering and serving.
4. According to Barna, the most important challenge to resolve is to reassess our commitment in reproducing true and born-again passionate disciples as we lead like Jesus.
A divine purpose is in reproducing and re-investing in the lives of others, to develop passionate true disciples with a devoted heart for God: to glorify, honor, and please Him as they seek out people to minister and to serve.
True disciples are committed followers of Jesus Christ and who are extremely effective and influential in impacting communities for Jesus.
True disciples are world changers who enjoy worshiping Jesus and who enjoy developing and loving on others in making a difference to change the world. True disciples are constantly investing in and are deeply committed to the Great Commission of Matt 28:19,20, "to Go and make disciples..."

Why is it important to shift from? |
1. A program-driven ministry to people-driven ministry? |
Program driven ministry often encourages church growth where membership numbers are concerned. People driven ministry focuses on building up people to become better followers of Christ in order to have them then turn around and build up another person in the same way and it continues to pay forward from generation to generation. It develops stability in the Christian walk and encourages a deep relationship with Christ Rather than a relationship with the local church. |
2. From emphasis on building consensus to building character? |
When we place an emphasis on building character in individuals they are more likely to be consistent with following through with ministry even when it does not seem to be gratifying. When we place the emphasis on numbers(consensus) then we often loose focus on building character in others and we often loose track of God’s initial purpose.
2. Retool developmental ministry efforts from being unrelated and |
|
When we are not intentional about ministry development by making sure we select specific target demographics such as age, gender, cultural diversities and other things like this we limit ourselves and are not fully able to effectively impact the people around us. We are not organized in what our focus is and God’s plan is at risk of not being conceived by others. If people are following us they are at risk of becoming confused about the ultimate goal and are unable to develop characteristics which allow them to serve with love in order to draw in other souls. This also causes a sort of spiritual retardation and an inability to recreate other effective disciples.

4. How important is for disciples to reproduce themselves in Christ? |
It is important for disciples to recreate themselves in order to draw others to Christ and to continue on a forward movement of God’s plan and it also prevents “burn out” because there are many who have the ability to do quality work for Christ instead of a selected few. My pastor often uses a quote to help us understand this concept “Many hands make light work”.
