Hello and Greetings to all of you. My name is Kevin Armstrong but have
been nicknamed " Rev Kev" by the youth in our church, Solid Rock
Church of God in New Windsor, NY under Pastor Thomas F. Stimpson. My
wife Jennifer and I have been married for 9 years although we have
known each other since HS. We have one handsome, intelligent son,
Matthew, who is 13 years old. We have been members of our church for 8
years now. I am presently the Youth Leader at Solid Rock and my wife
is the Leader of our Drama Ministry. I am also an active member of our
Sound Ministry, our newly formed Video Ministry and our Drama Team. I
am also a former co-leader of our Armorbearers Mens Ministry and
Founder of our Sports Ministry.
My spiritual journey began at age 6 when I received Christ as my
Savior at a Christian summer camp. I was raised in the United
Methodist Church most of my life where I served as an Usher, an Altar
Boy, member of the Gospel Choir, Youth Fellowship Leader and as a
member of several committees. Although raised with Christian values
and always a participant in church activities, I never developed an
actual relationship with God and eventually began to move away from
the church and my foundations only to be caught up in chasing the
things of this world. Even serious physical and medical issues did not
steer me back to the God who was still watching and protecting
me....from myself. After bouts with Cancer, Stroke, Heart Failure, 2
Heart Transplants, 2 Heart Attacks and Diabetes, I began to see how
God wanted my attention and to return to the lesson I had learned so
early on in life. I rededicated my life to Him from that point on and
it has been a journey of discovery of myself and my God ever since.
Even now as I deal with Kidney Failure due to the Diabetes and Heart
problems, daily Dialysis and waiting for a new Kidney to become
available for me, I remain joyous, full of hope and love for my Father
who has kept me and made me a living testimony of His love and power.
It is still a struggle as I move closer to Him and further from myself
but everyday is a gift and full of His new mercies and possibilities
for my life through Him.
I believe He has shown me that my gifting in the area of Youth
Ministry is where I am needed and where I belong. I pray that this
study and the prayers and support of all of us for each other will
keep us in line with His perfect will for each and every one of us.
We all have been chosen for a very specific task that we are never to
take lightly. Our children, our youth are our legacy and our bridge to
generations to come. May you all not only learn what it is we need to
learn but also experience what God has birthed inside each one of us
for the building up of His Kingdom. Take care and God Bless you all.
