1. List four reasons why discipleship matters.
A. True Disciples must be assured by faith and passionately convinced of their salvation by grace alone. As disciples of Christ, we must embrace the free gift of salvation made available to us through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
B. Disciples must learn, have divine wisdom, revelation knowledge and doctrinal understanding, through the Holy Spirit about what and why they believe the infallible Word of God and the principles of the Christian Life.
C. True Disciples live a holy lifestyle that reflects the evidence of the Holy Spirit working in their lives. True Disciples live a lifestyle that is totally "souled out" to God. Disciples are obedient to their commitment to Jesus Christ. It is a life that is consecrated, set apart and distinguishable from the world's point of view, selfish thinking, and (ungodly/lack of integrity) approaches to life, perspectives about God and His Word, preferences, vision, values, goals.
Disciples living a holy life, is a saved life that has different established patterns from the accepted norm. It is a life of obedience, trust, love, humility and respect that is harmoniously balanced with God's laws and commands.
D. Discipleship is not a program or just a ministry. Disciples imitate the self-less loving sacrifice in ministering and serving others. It is a lifelong commitment to lead others to God like Jesus. It involves preparation and a ready response in loving on people and welcoming them to the family of God.
Discipleship takes experiencing life changing encounters with God and a deeper spiritual understanding in the Word.
Discipleship requires discipline, patience, sensitivity, knowledge and skill in addressing the concerns, needs, goals, problems of others with genuine love and sensitivity and a lifestyle of holy living and serving and loving on others with the love of the Lord.
