1. List four reasons why discipleship matters.

A. True Disciples must be assured by faith and passionately convinced of their salvation by grace alone. As disciples of Christ, we must embrace the free gift of salvation made available to us through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

B. Disciples must learn, have divine wisdom, revelation knowledge and doctrinal understanding, through the Holy Spirit about what and why they believe the infallible Word of God and the principles of the Christian Life.

C. True Disciples live a holy lifestyle that reflects the evidence of the Holy Spirit working in their lives. True Disciples live a lifestyle that is totally "souled out" to God. Disciples are obedient to their commitment to Jesus Christ. It is a life that is consecrated, set apart and distinguishable from the world's point of view, selfish thinking, and (ungodly/lack of integrity) approaches to life, perspectives about God and His Word, preferences, vision, values, goals.
Disciples living a holy life, is a saved life that has different established patterns from the accepted norm. It is a life of obedience, trust, love, humility and respect that is harmoniously balanced with God's laws and commands.
D. Discipleship is not a program or just a ministry. Disciples imitate the self-less loving sacrifice in ministering and serving others. It is a lifelong commitment to lead others to God like Jesus. It involves preparation and a ready response in loving on people and welcoming them to the family of God.
Discipleship takes experiencing life changing encounters with God and a deeper spiritual understanding in the Word.
Discipleship requires discipline, patience, sensitivity, knowledge and skill in addressing the concerns, needs, goals, problems of others with genuine love and sensitivity and a lifestyle of holy living and serving and loving on others with the love of the Lord.

2. Explain the role of the CHURCH page 46-50

The church's role in helping others grow spiritually is paramount to the spiritual advancement, health, and maturity of the individual
and the body of Christ. "Churches have down a good job of promoting the importance of Spiritual growth, but they have not invested time and energy in providing an relational environment in which. Spiritual growth is a relevant lifestyle. Building confidence, trust and embracing disciples in the mentoring process,
are certainly keys in the church's role in developing a viable discipleship strategy.

3. How could coaching and mentoring work in your church. What steps

will you take in start a mentoring program for youth? Training, training and more training. Having youth leaders take this course is a good step in the right direction. In addition, having leaders attend the '24 to Double' course will be beneficial to reaching the youth in our community.

At Rhema, we are blessed good youth attendance @services on Sunday and Youth Friday night. Bishop Patrick Phillips is ensuring that we have the proper motivation and creativity, and we have implemented an intentional focus on the discipleship and mentoring process. Developing passionate, spiritually mature followers of Christ is our goal.

Phase II Week 2, Chapter 3 April 16--22 GEORGE BARNA’S “GROWING TRUE
DISCIPLES"

1. List four reasons why discipleship matters.
Discipleship matters because Jesus modeled and commanded it, it’s
necessary for the Church to become healthy, because we don’t reach our
potential without growth, and because we can’t influence the world
unless we can demonstrate faith–based transformation.

2. Explain the role of the CHURCH page 46-50
The role of the Church is to promote spiritual growth through
mentorship. It should also encourage it’s members to learn and put
into practice Bible principles. Church should provides opportunities
to put those principles into practice and should also place an
emphasis on mentoring others that have not yet had an opportunity to
be trained. Training should always consist of a selfless love for
Christ and others.

3. How could coaching and mentoring work in your church. What steps
will you take in start a mentoring program for youth.
Currently at my church we are trying to do a better job with this. We
do coach and mentor, however we are attempting to become “ on the same
page”. Therefore all of our churches leaders are currently enrolled in
a leadership program and then we will begin to practice the techniques
given in training to encourage the growth of others in the
congregation and to develop new leaders who will then pass on the
knowledge to others who will then create new mentors for yet another
generation of leaders.
Blessings! I look forward to reading your post
