How effective have you been as a disciple maker?

After studying Barna's 'Growing True Disciples' and taking this course, I believe I will be more effective in the disciple-making process. This is a very important and serious matter that is of great concern to God. There is always room for growth and improvement, especially in spiritual matters.

What type of process will facilitate where we are trying to go and

what we are trying to achieve? The process is personal spiritual growth and development through discipleship and accountability of such. Barna outlines four objectives in this type of process that will help us get to where we need to be in achieving a lifelong genuine disciples of Christ.
1. Passion. Jesus is not interested in titles, prestige, status and being self sufficient nor lukewarm, compromising followers. Jesus is still seeking hearts that are a) on fire for God through the baptism of the Holy Spirit, b) totally dependent on Him, and c) heart that are willing to daily surrender to Him- sacrificing self and suffering with him as He did for us.

2. Maturity in the Core dimensions and the fundamentals of the church. Commitment, dedication and devotion to the core ministry components of worship, evangelism, discipleship, sevanthood, stewardship and fellowship facilitate discipleship and mold us into Christ-likeness.

3. A biblical world view, according to Barna,
is being "fully immersed" in the knowledge of our faith and application of godly principles and practices. (Barna, pg 83). I agree that we must filter every choice we make, say, and think through the mind and heart of God. 'What would Jesus do', should be our mantra.

4. Standards and Accountability. The process for making true progress in our spiritual growth and development is tireless ACCOUNTABILITY. This is especially important in the discipleship-making process. We need to be motivated, diligent, consistent in prayer, and persevere in sacrificially pushing ourselves to set our sights higher, through faith in the power of the Holy Spirit. The Word specifically declares that "It is not by (man's) might, nor by (man's limited), but by my Spirit, saith the Lord of Hosts" (Zech. 4:6). It is God's desire, His will and intention for us to reach and achieve higher heights in Him to be more like Jesus.

How effective have you been as a disciple maker? I actually have not
been as effective as I should on this . I thought I was more
effective , but after reading this material I see some room for great
improvement on my part.
What type of process will facilitate where we are trying to go and
what we are trying to achieve? The process needed to facilitate what
we are trying to achieve is one that consist of us having passion
which is our ability to not just be a fan of ministry , but to be
devoted to it in a selfless way. This will allow us to reach our full
potential in Christ. Next we will need to be mature in the
fundamentals of ministry. This can be accomplished by diving into a
process that will facilitate personal spiritual formation that will
mold us into the likeness of Christ. Third we need to have a biblical
word view. We must filter every choice through a mind and heart that
is saturated with God’s perspective. Lastly we need to have standards
and accountability that foster spiritual growth. Reliance on a
community of loving and supportive peers who are high minded in the
things of Christ is key if we plan to make progress in our spiritual
development.

Phase II Week 5 Chapter 5

1. In this area I see from reading that I have not been effective as I
should be.

2. George Barna has four objectives:

1. Passion: Jesus is seeking the hearts of those who are willing to
surrender everything for the blessed privilege of suffering for Him,
just as the He suffered for us. He wants people who are dedicated to
getting beyond the offer of mere salvation to those who are willing to
do what it takes to complete a personal transformation.

2. Maturity is the fundamentals of Ministry. We must be dedicated in
worship, evangelism, discipleship, servanthood, stewardship and
Christian fellowship, we are to dive into a process that will
facilitate personal spiritual formation and mold us into the likeness
of our ultimate role model Jesus Christ.

3. A Biblical Worldview: We must be fully immersed in the knowledge
of our faith and the application of it principle in godly practices.
We must represent Christ well in every aspect of our lives to respond
to reality ever choice through a mind and heart with God’s
perspectives that our choices reflect His choices.

4. Standard and Accountability that Foster Spiritual Growth: Because
we live in a world that accepts second best and half hearted efforts,
we often set our set lower than we should. Only through adhering to a
timeless process of accountability in which w are motivates and pushed
to reach high standards reliance upon a community of loving and
supportive but high-minded peers in Christ is necessary if we are to
make true progress in our spiritual development.
