While in the past The Boston Massacre has been well spaced in the US tournament
schedule, this year it is the weekend before DipCon/World Dip Con in Ohio. This
may increase or decrease the tournament attendance especially with regard to
travelers. I am pleased however to announce that we have our first confirmed
traveler from the UK who is treating Massacre as a stopover before traveling on
to Ohio. Hopefully the fact that there is no Friday round, so travelers don't
have to take time off work to get to Boston, and the fact that DipCon/WDC
actually starts mid week will make it easier for players to take a couple of
extra days off to get two tournaments in for the price of one.
The plan this year is to run Massacre similarly as I have in the past. There
will be trophies, Detour scoring, drop dead deadlines. Massacre typically
attracts 3 to 4 boards of players per round. Please email me even if you're
jsut considering attending as it's very helpful to know in advance how big the
event is likely to be.

For accommodation options:
The nearest hotel for those who like luxury is the Le Meridian Cambridge
(Hotel@MIT). But at $200+ per night it's a little on the pricey side.
For those that don't mind a bus or short taxi ride the Summer hostel at Fenway
is a much more reasonable alternative at ~$40 per night. Email me if your up
for this so I can organize private shared rooms with Tournament attendees.
And for the financially challenged we should be able to find a couch or two
around for those that prefer to sleep for free.
Transport options:
We usually have people come from all over New England so if you'd like to come,
but are not sure how to get yourself from A to B email me and I'll see if I can
hook you up with a lift.
Central Square is serviced well by the MBTA with at least 6 different bus
routes and the Red line dropping you off at the Venue doorstep.
