Dear Friends,

In addition to the two large vigils that will take place on Friday, April 8th, the regularly monthly Darfur vigil group (first Tuesday of every month) will be held this coming Tuesday, April 5th from 12-2pm at the US Mission to the UN.

FROM THE DARFUR VIGIL GROUP:
As you know the situation in Darfur is heartbreaking.  Furthermore, the news of clashes and killings in the border region between North and South Sudan, fomented by the government in Khartoum, all indicate that our Government's kid gloves policy toward Sudan, for the sake of the referendum in South Sudan,  has backfired.  Any conciliatory policy toward the government in Khartoum is interpreted by the President of  Sudan as a green light to do the worst that he can get way with.  We must press our government to use all the means of pressure at its disposal and not dangle the reward of removing Sudan from the list of state sponsors of terrorism, when what that government is doing is nothing but acts of terrorism by bombing villages in Darfur, blocking food aid, fomenting violence in the border regions and giving alarming signals to the South Sudanese that war could again break out between the North and the South.

Vigil at US Mission to the UN:   45th Street and First Ave.

                                  DATE:   Tuesday, April 5

                                  TIME:    12 - 2

As always, please call 1-800-GENOCIDE.

Thank you for your faithfulness to the long-suffering Darfuri people.
