Hi, there:
It's been a while since I wrote. I've been experiencing life and doing what I can. But I dare say, those efforts have not had the impact I'd like in some areas.
From our various off-list conversations, I recognize many of us are going through it in one form or another. Setting an intention to go in a particular direction (or get a particular result, like health or money). Moving forward a bit. Then hitting the wall.
We regroup and try again. Then we hit that wall. Maybe we try another approach. Bang. Or even set off in another direction. Oops, there it is again. No matter what we do, we aren't breaking through these obstacles (though the way they manifest may change).
For other things, though, our way is paved with ease and simplicity. It's as if reality is inviting us to give up whatever we were trying to do and go do something else. Giving us an out from the path we've chosen for our lives.
What's going on?
Our callings -- I call them missions -- often take us into this wall. And though there are pleasurable aspects of life where we don't have those barriers, they come more as diversions to round out life, rather than places to take up full time residence. For instance, I enjoy my morning walks. But they don't really serve anyone other than me. And if I were walking all day, they probably wouldn't serve me for very long, either. My body would rebel, not to mention my mind.
Our missions are the expression of an inner voice that leads us to contribute something to the world. But it sure seems that the contribution we try to make is far less important than the experiences it brings us along the way.
When we hit that wall trying to perform our mission, it's allowing us to see things in us we'd rather not. Like perhaps some seed fear that we've built up over many lifetimes and implanted within ourselves to keep us from going down that road of pain once again.
Perhaps the road we're on will bring that pain once again; maybe, though, it will finally allow us to have the impact we want to make.
These walls we hit are manifestations of those inner conditions. We've created them so we'll have to stop and address the underlying condition. Maybe that means breaking through the wall by force of will. Then again, for me at least, the more I try to force it, the bigger that wall gets.
Perhaps life is trying to tell me to deal with it now so it won't crop up even bigger somewhere down the line.
What are the walls you're hitting, and what are they telling you about you?
